Second time we have visited in 2 years with one of our beloved dogs. Dudley the chihuahua passed away on 12/6/2021 in his bed at home aged 13 1/2 following a heart attack. We left a message and Stephen phoned us straight back and booked us in for today at 10am. He is very kind and professional and made us feel confident and at peace that Dudley was given the dignity and respect he deserved. We are most sincerely grateful to Stephen and his staff.

The death of our cat and best friend Charlie after a short illness has been devastating for us. We knew that we didn't want to leave him at the vets and wanted to spend some time with him before we buried or cremated him so we took him home with us.

When I emailed Stephen he replied quickly and said that they could book us in for an individual cremation in a day's time which was perfect as we had a whole day to say our goodbyes properly.

The gentle kindness we felt from Stephen was very comforting and we knew we had found the right place to give our boy a fitting send off.

Chestnut Lodge is in a beautiful woodland setting. It is so peaceful and has a wonderfully calm energy. Everything is spotless but not clinical and Stephen explains everything in a very clear and gentle manner. We felt very looked after but also had the personal space we needed to say goodbye.

We chose to witness Charlie being placed in the cremator and the start of the process. All along the way we were given plenty of opportunities to say our goodbyes however many times we wanted.

When we returned in two hours we were given Charlie's ashes in the beautiful wooden cat shaped urn. This was so comforting and I sat him on my lap the whole way home in the car and stroked the polished wood. It isn't the same as having our beautiful boy with us but I feel that finding Chestnut Lodge will help with our grieving process.

I cannot recommend them enough and will definitely be using them again in the future for our other cats, though I do hope it is in many years time.

Thank you to Stephen and your team once again for taking my beloved furry friend, Maisy on her final journey, less than 3 months after her sister, Milly, came to you.

As before, I was so touched by the care, sensitivity and attention to detail in the service provided. The fur cuttings and paw prints, as well as the casket, are beautiful keepsakes for me to hold on to the memories and extra special times my girls gave me, which is a great comfort at this very difficult time.

Our cat passed away very suddenly. We where stroking her and she was very happy, then she just passed away. She was young and had no known health issues. It was so hard. I called chesnut lodge the following morning and was able to take her there. Once i arrived the kocation was very nice and peaceful. The staff where very supportive and understanding and gave me as much time as i wanted in a private room to say a final goodbye. We then went into the office to disscuss what we wanted. There was no pressure, no hard sell, just understanding and compassion. They explained what will happen and how they would treat out family member. They really put me to ease. After, i once again went to see our cat to say one final goodbye, and in tears i left. Highly recommended for anyone who wants the best for there departed family member

Initial phone call with lady fine.

Process at crem when dropping off my dog- not very friendly, no empathy, no warmth, just felr like part of a conveyor belt.

Not allowed to pay at Crem or over phone. Some people do not like paying on line.

Going to pick ashes up later, so see how that goes.

I sadly will not recommend to others.

We have talked about this and I can only apologise if I have given you that impression. It was certainly not intended and completely the opposite to the way we work. When we see people we are guided by them as to whether they wish to talk or get things sorted. I obviously misread this situation and I apologise. Everyone who comes here has as long as they wish to stay with their pet or not to stay if they do not want to. We have not been taking payments on site as part of our Covid procedures but we do take payments over the phone. I am so sorry if this has caused any problems.

Thanks to Stephen and his team who helped us say goodbye to Daisy our border collie after we had to make the decision to end her suffering as she had old age kidney and liver failure. Have used Chestnut Lodge now for many years for rabbits, cats and dogs and as always the service is exemplary and have no hesitation in recommending them.

My beautiful Munchie had endured so much in his 15 years. At 7 he had both his eyes removed due to illness but bounced back and lived a content and happy life. He loved everyone and was my gentle and kind best friend. I literally had 24 hours after Munchies diagnosis to arrange everything and to find Chestnut Lodge was a blessing. Stephen treated Munchie with so much respect and explained everything to me. I had 100% trust in them. Munchie was cremated on Friday and they kindly gave him back to me Saturday. His ashes were presented in such a kind and thoughtful way and the attention to detail was more than I could have hoped for. Thank you for making this painful time more bearable
